What is simultaneous interpreting
Simultaneous interpreting means translating a speaker’s words in real time into one or more languages. Interpreters work from soundproof booths, listen via headset, and render in parallel — the audience hears the translation almost simultaneously (~3 seconds lag).
It’s the required format for high-stakes events with multiple parallel languages, where you can’t slow the programme with consecutive interpreting.

How many interpreters
Base rule: 2 interpreters per booth (per target language), rotating every 30 minutes. The concentration simultaneous demands can’t be held solo beyond 30-40 minutes.
FR ↔ EN one-day event: 2 interpreters. FR ↔ EN ↔ ES: 4 interpreters. Multilingual summits (FR + EN + ES + PT + AR): up to 10 interpreters.
